• What is a vapor cigarette (or e-cigarette or e-cig)?

  A vapor cigarette (or e-cigarette or e-cig) is an electronic device that simulates the act of tobacco smoking. The device uses heat to vaporize a liquid solution into an inhalable aerosol mist. This mist is comparable to traditional tobacco smoke – similar appearance, sensation, flavor, nicotine content – but contains no tar and produces no smoke, ash or odor.

• What’s in the liquid solution?

  The liquid solution found in vapor cigarettes is propylene glycol. Nicotine and flavoring have also been added. Propylene glycol is a colorless viscous liquid commonly found in food, cosmetics and medicines. It is generally recognized as safe by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA).

• Is that real smoke?

  No. It’s mostly water vapor that evaporates into air within seconds and leaves virtually no odor.

• What is nicotine?

  Nicotine is an organic compound found in certain plants, predominantly tobacco. It can also be found in lower quantities in tomatos, potatoes, eggplants, cauliflower, green peppers and in some teas. When absorbed in small amounts, nicotine can heighten alertness and/or instill a feeling of calm and relaxation. The effects of nicotine can last from minutes to hours, and can be habit-forming.

• How much nicotine is in a Henley Premium Vapor Cigarette?

  Henley offers a wide range of nicotine strengths for use in its line of Henley Rechargeables – from levels comparable to those found in traditional tobacco cigarettes – regular strength and light - all the way down to zero.

• Does nicotine cause cancer?

  No. It is widely believed by the medical community that nicotine does not cause cancer. Nicotine research is on-going and the medical research has found some advantages and disadvantages of nicotine consumption. Determine through your own research if nicotine alone is a net gain or loss for your health.

• How does a vapor cigarette work?

  A vapor cigarette consists of three main components: A battery, a liquid-filled flavor cartridge, and an internal heating element called an atomizer. (Flavor cartridges and atomizers are often combined into one component commonly referred to as “cartomizers.”) When the user draws on the vapor cigarette, he or she activates the battery. This triggers the atomizer which, in turn, vaporizes the liquid.

  A disposable vapor cigarette combines the battery, the cartridge and the atomizer into one self-contained unit. A rechargeable vapor cigarette enables users to unscrew the battery from the cartomizer, allowing either component to be easily swapped out.

• Why should I give vapor cigarettes a try?

  Vapor cigarettes offer a distinct advantage over traditional cigarettes by giving users back the freedom to choose almost anywhere they want to smoke. No more second hand smoke, no more odor, and no more stigma.

  Furthermore, many vapor cigarettes – ours in particular – look and feel like traditional tobacco cigarettes. This can be comforting to those who have enjoyed the physical act of smoking traditional tobacco cigarettes for years.

• Are vapor cigarettes less harmful than tobacco cigarettes?

  As this is still the subject of much debate, we urge consumers to check out the latest research and formulate their own opinions. One academic institution that has been taking the lead on this front is Boston University's School of Public Health >

• Can vapor cigarettes help me stop smoking traditional cigarettes?

  As of today, manufacturers and suppliers of vapor cigarettes are not allowed to market vapor cigarettes as smoking cessation products nor as nicotine replacement therapies (like the patch and the gum). Electronic cigarettes may only be marketed as an alternative to smoking until more testing and research has been done.

• Are vapor cigarettes approved by the FDA and the TTB?

  Both the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) and the Alcohol and Tobacco Trade Bureau (TTB) have formally stated that an electronic cigarette is not a product that warrants its involvement or oversight. The FDA notes that electronic cigarettes do not fit the classification of products it governs. The TTB states that it has no regulatory interest because vapor cigarettes do not contain tobacco.

• Do I have to be a legal age to purchase and use vapor cigarettes?

  Yes. No one under the legal smoking age in your country or state should use any electronic smoking device.

• Are there any other safety concerns I should be aware of?

  Electronic cigarettes should only be used by committed smokers who are of legal smoking age, not by nonsmokers or by children, pregnant women, women breast feeding, or persons with or at risk of heart disease, high blood pressure, diabetes, or taking medicine for depression or asthma. Consult a physician if you experience nicotine misuse symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, dizziness, diarrhea, weakness and rapid heartbeat. If you smoke tobacco products, you are encouraged to stop.

  Keep electronic cigarette products out of the reach of children and pets. Ingestion of the certain pieces can present a choking hazard and ingestion of the non-vaporized concentrated ingredients in the cartridges can be poisonous.
